After NAPA International Performing Arts Festival 2019 that recently came to an end after a riveting run, another festival is on its way for music and theatre lovers in Karachi. The coming days will see a three-day event, called the Karachi Charagh Festival that is scheduled to commence from April 5 at the Karachi Arts Council and will run till April 7.
It is a “three-day event comprising music, contemporary, filmi, folk and classical dances, and film screenings of young emerging directors,” states the official event page.
The event will also feature panel discussions with scholars, celebrities and media personnel onboard while there will be multiple content driven segment including dramatic readings, theatrical monologues, rap performances and Lyari Sheedi dance. Some of the names include thespian Nazr ul Hassan with whom there will be full length conversation during the event, humorist Tariq Siddiqui, actor Faiza Hassan and folk/classical singer Rashid Haideri, among others.
The final act of the event will be a semi classical and Kafi rendition by Chaand & Sooraj Khan (Sham Chawrasi gharana) from Lahore.
The event will be held at the Karachi Arts Council (new theatre) and the entry will be open and free to all.
